Education has been given girls because of a federal law that gaureented the right of education without having to face sex discrimination. However, there are still some problems with the education system such as segregating girls and boys into different educational programs with the justification that girls and boys have brains that work differently. Not only that, young parents or preganant students face struggles in which the system condemns them and groups them with having behvaioral problems, this leads to higher dropout rates. Furthermore, in developing countries one quarter of girls do not attend school because of the limited supply of money and school items. As a result, the family prioritizes the boys education since the girl can do labor around the house. This goes to show how girls do not have equal opportunties and are being held back by obstacles made for them.

Even though there have been improvements on how women are are treated and allowed in workplaces they still face harsh stereotypes which include that women should be stay at home mothers and working 'isnt for them'. To add on, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are more often than not pushed oit of their place of work or fired. Not only are they facing discriminating social norms, but a lower pay than men as well. For every dollar a man makes a woman makes 81 cents, this does not include women of color. Women are forced to deal with these standards even though there is nothing seperating them from men.

The Covid 19 pandemic threatens to throw the gains of gender equality under the bus because of women getting hit the hardest even though they are the ones doing immense work for 'the road to recovery'. Gender based violence has not been reduced and women are facing even more hardship because of this pandemic than before.

Gender equality is a human right given to everyone the day they are born, however the world we live in has a gap that needs to be closed. If given the same opportunties and higher education, men and women will be on equal playing fields. Gender is something that describes social norms that is put on a man or woman which clouds a person's judgement. Men are not better than women and vice versa, however in today's society women are still not being treated right which hinders what they can achieve.

Hello! My name is Sabeen and I am passionate about women's rights/equality. I heard many stories from talented women who achieved, and still are, their goals about the struggles they faced while being a female in society. At that time I didn't know that women were still facing such hardships, but after educating myself on how women are currently being treated, poeple should know and speak up about it.
